Tiger Lily Cucumber Basil Martini

Tiger Lily Cucumber Basil Martini

I found this cucumber martini on a menu in New York and fell in love! Since we were in an Asian restaurant they used Japanese vodka which is pretty hard to find. This is my take on one of my favorite cocktails! Adding some fresh basil makes for a delightful summer drink on the deck.

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • sexy glass

Ingredients

  • 21/2 oz Gin or Vodka
  • 1 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liquor
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup make your own boiling water with equal part sugar and cool before use
  • 2 wedges fresh lime
  • 3 thick slices of cucumber plus an extra for garnish
  • 2-3 leaves of fresh basil or more for garnish

Instructions

  • Place lime wedges, cucumber and basil in a cocktail shaker.
  • Muddle until most of the juice is extracted from the fruit.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and fill shaker with ice. If you like your cocktail super cold put ice and water into the glass and let it sit until ready to serve then pour out the ice water before serving. Or just chill the glasses in the freezer for 30 minutes. I don't plan that far ahead so I use the ice water method!
  • Shake with lid on for at least 30 seconds. Pour into a sexy glass and garnish.
