Tomato Tartine (tartine a la tomate)
Perfect Parisian lunch!
When my husband and I travelled to France last month we were captivated by Paris. Having lived in New York City for a brief period we love the vibe of a happening city. As our feet hit the pavement of the left bank sidewalk exiting the metro, we were literally elevated to another mindset. Our first day we walked 10 miles before lunch taking in every sight we could. Then, of course we were starving. We fell into a café without discretion and ordered wine and sandwiches. Scott preferring the jambon baguette, I ordered the tartine. The broiled open-faced sandwich did not disappoint. It was served with a small green salad lightly dressed and I could not do without the glass of sauvignon blanc that perfectly pairs with this delightful lunch.
Here I offer my best take on the Paris lunch staple that I have come to love even at home. Don’t forget the wine. Just a little will be fine!
